1. What cookies are

A cookie is a small text file a site stores in your browser and reads back on later visits. They are how a site remembers that you are signed in, or that you chose a particular language. lang — remembers the language you selected, so the site does not revert to English on every visit. Lifetime: 1 year. Category: strictly necessary. Set by: balauron.com.

memberToken — your sign-in session. It is marked HttpOnly, so JavaScript on the page cannot read it, and restricted to same-site requests. Lifetime: 8 hours. Category: strictly necessary. Set by: balauron.com. Only set if you have an account and are signed in.

cookieConsent — records what you chose in the cookie preferences panel, so we do not have to ask again. Lifetime: 12 months. Category: strictly necessary. Set by: balauron.com. Only set once you save a preference.

3. Why there is no cookie banner

Because there is nothing to consent to.

Under the ePrivacy Directive, consent is required for cookies that are not strictly necessary — analytics, advertising, cross-site tracking. Balauron sets none of those. A banner demanding consent for a language preference and a session cookie would be theatre, and it would train you to click "accept" without reading, which makes everyone less safe.

If Balauron ever adds an optional cookie, this page will change and you will be asked properly, before it is set.

4. Managing your preferences

You can open the cookie preferences panel at any time from the Manage Cookies link in the footer. Today it shows one locked category and one unused one — that is honest rather than impressive, and it means the control is already there if that changes.

You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. If you block the strictly necessary ones, the site will still load, but you will not be able to stay signed in and your language choice will not persist.

5. Third-party cookies

There are none.

Balauron loads no third-party scripts, no embedded videos, no social widgets, no web fonts from external services, and no advertising or analytics tags. The site's content security policy restricts network connections to Balauron's own origin, which enforces this at the browser level rather than relying on our good intentions.

Our servers do read public market data from Polymarket and Binance, but those requests happen server-side. They set no cookies in your browser and receive nothing about you.
